BRITAIN'S AIR FLEETS.
ONE CENTRA! CONTROL. NAVY UNIT COMMAND. COMPROMISE rOSSIBUELONDON, August 1. The Cabinet yesterday considered the report of the Committee of Imperial Defence, which, it'is understood, favours the Air Ministry having complete control of the air services. The Prime Minister is expected to make a statement in the House of Commons to-morrow morning. The "Morning Post" says that Earl Beatty attended the meeting of the Cabinet. It is believed that the Cabinet felt bound to accept the committee's report. The "Daily Chronicle" eayi that the majority of the Ministers supported the committee, but the Cabinet realises the seriousness of the position created by the Admiralty's contention that it should control its own air service, and is endeavouring to devise a compromise whereby the Admiralty shall be responsible for the training of naval airmen so they may develop a sea sense and be able to do the work the Navy requires. Eventually all trained airmen would pass under the control of the Air Ministry.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
