RELIEF LEGISLATION. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, thle d»jr. The Companies Amendment Bill wm put through all ategee in the Legislative Council thie afternoon and passed. Sir Francis Bell said the purpose of the bill was to extend to December 31, 1024, the provisions of the 1022 bill, which aimed Bit protecting financially embarrassed companies in certain cases. The legislation of 1022 gave the Court power to direct a meeting to 'be held of the creditors for the purpose of considering the. expediency of making any'arrangement or compromise, and, if any compromise were agreed to by a required majority, the Court might make it binding. The bill mainly affected dairy companies.
