AtrCHXAND LADIES CLUB. CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT. The ladies' provincial championship tournament, nndur the auspices of the Auckland Ladies' Club, was opened at the Mlcldlemore llnfej yesterday In One weather and under excellent conditions. In conjunction with the qualifying round for the championship a handicap medal match was played, and with the first round of tbe championship in tbe afternoon a bogey match was Included. Mrs. Slack, of Cambridge, played the best golf of the day doing her qualifying round in 85 and Improving this to 83 (3 above bogey) In the first championship round. Tbe following are the results:— Qualifying Round for Championship Mrs. Slack, 85, 4—81: Miss S. Payton 89 11—78; Miss M. Payton, 01, 3—88: Mrs' Hodges, 93. 12—81: Miss Cooper. 93, 12 81Miss E. First Hound of the Championship.—Miss E. CulliiiK beat Miss Marian Macfarlane, 5 up and 3; Mrs. Slack heat Miss SI. Cooper, 8 np and 6: Mrs. Marshall beat Miss X Holmes, 1 np: Miss S. Payton beat Miss D. Kirk, 1 up at the 19tn; Miss M. Payton beat Mlse C. Moginlc. -J up and 3: Miss E. M. Upton beat Miss M. Macfarlane. 1 up at the 10th : Mrs. Hodges beat Mrs. Robertson, 2 up and 1: Miss P. Bloomfleld beat Mrs. Herring. 3 up and 4. The following are the results of the bogey match played in tbe afternoon:— Seniors: Mrs. Slack tied with Miss Macfarlane. both 3 down. The Junior was won by Mrs. R. Dnfanr. 4 down. The best putting cards for the day were: Mrs. F. Mcllwralth, 24, and Mrs. Prime, 24.
