SOUTHERN LINE REPAIRED.
DEVIATION AT KAKAHI. (Special to "Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. Weather ..conditions in the Main Trunk country have improved, and railway workers are making good progress clearing the line. The Department was able to report- to-day that the line from the Wellington end waa clear as far as the scene, of the Ongarue disaster. The Kakahi slip was so serious that a deviation of the line had to be built around it. This is being used for traffic, and the derailed engine on the superseded portion of the line will be replaced to-day. It was intended to send the Main, Trunk express from Wellington to-day, and to hold it at Taumarunui, so tbiat the Ongarue section could be negotiated at daybreak. SOUTH TRAIN TO-MORROW NIGHT. A train will leave Auckland at 7.10 to-morrow evening, and it Is expected that this train will get P*«t the slip at Ongarue. For the convenience of intending passengers who wish to reserve seats on this train the booking office at the Auckland station will be open from 10 o'clock "•"Vmorrow morning. ,-
