PROTECTING YOUNG CHILDREN
liASK FOR OFFENDERS. LONDON, Juno 21. Major T. G. F. Paget's bill for the protection of young children was read a first time in the House of Commons. It provides that any man con% - icted of sexual offences against children under 13 years may be privately whipped in addition to imprisonment. Mr. G. Buchanan (Labour) opposed the measure, submitting that the cure for this evil was not whipping, but education and good housing.— (A. aud N.Z.)
