AUTOCRATIC EX-KAISER.
WANTS TO STAGE "FAUST." SHU HOPING FOR THRONE. BERLIN, June 21. , The ex-Kaiser's wife, thanking a com-1 pany of German students for their visit i to Doprn, remarked: "Spiritually one goes to ruin here. Please come often, j We have so little chance of hearing anything of real value." The students were deeply impressed by the luxury of the j rooms allotted to them.
The ex-Kaiser was dressed in plain civilian clothes, but he preserved an autocratic demeanour and gave a lecture on literature. He stated that he always wanted to stage "Faust," but he could
not obtain suitable actors. He told the students that he passed his time in historical, archaeological, and genealogical studies. "Better times will come," he added, "because Germany is the home of heroism." —(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
