LIQUOR ON SHIPS.

AMERICAN RESTRICTIONS,

ONLY ONE CONCESSION MADE.: (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright.) ~ NEW YORK, June 4. The Washington, correspondent of the' New York "Times" reports that, despite earlier intimations that the Government would temper its decree prohibiting tno carriage of liquor aboard ships within , the three-mile limit, the Treasury has published regulations which will become effective on June 10, making it. illegal for any vessel to carry liquors for beverage purposes in United States territorial waters, save as medicinal stores, for which a, permit must be obtained from an officer of the American Public Health Service. The regulations make only one concession—that, where the laws of a toreign country specifically mention the kind and quantity of liquors which vessels under its flag must carry as medicinal stores, the American Health Service shall issue permits for such. : It is now considered questionable I whether liquor rations for crews can now be included under medicinal stores. Tt is generally admitted that the new regulations will result in many international complieationa, and result in damage to American commerce. — (A. and N.Z.) j —==
