ONE NAVY FOR EMPIRE.

FAVOURED BY AUSTRALIA

BRISBANE, June 4. The Federal Prime Minister (Mr. S. M. Bruce), speaking at Dalby, said that he believed that the Imperial Economic Conference would lay the foundation of a scheme which would make the British Empire greater and give it greater prosperity. "Australia's leading problem, he continued, "is to make sure that Australia is to remain ours and to provide for out own defence. There is only one way to do that, by a well-considered plan of Imperial naval defence." He believed that some day the Leapue of Nations would be able to assure the peace of the world, but today it could not.—(A. and X.Z. Cable.)
