MUNICIPAL MILK SUPPLY.

(To the EdU"r.) Sir, —I sec by reports in your paper, them is to be a meeting this month to consider the taking over of the milk supply b}' the Auckland City Council. The two most interested parties appear to be the Auckland Kotary Club and the Dairy Employees' Union. 1 think it about time that some of the members of the Rotary Club, who are business men in the city, looked to their own 'businesses, and put them in order before they interfere with other people's -ad'airs. The Employees' Union are seeking one tiiinp, less work. By the block system they would not have to cover the same ground, but would deliver three times as much milk, thereby doing away with two-thirds of their mates, wlio would join the unemployed. It would cost about Al 500,000 to take the trade over, and they could not run it any better, if as jrood, as it is to-day, and certainly no cheaper, a* has been proved in Wellington, where milk is dearer. Men who have worked in the trade both in New Zealand ...and Australia nave told mc that the Auckland supply is the best in Australasia. If the Council have £500,000 to spend, I think it would be better spent in road making. Remember tbe less on the Municipal Fish Market. Don't let us have the same with the milk.—l am, etc.. •.MILK VENDOR-
