MELBA'S TRIUMPH.

BRILLIANT ' SUCCESS IN " BOHEME." LONDON, June 1. "La Boheme'' was a brilliant success at Covent Garden last night, Dame Nellie Melba singing for flret time this season. The King and the Princesses Royal, Victoria, and Maud were present. '"La Boheme" is the King's favourite opera, and he led the applause at the close of each act. The critics' were unanimous regarding Dame Melba'a triumph, and say that it is impossible, -while listening to her. to imagine that she was a prima donna at Covent Garden 35 years ago. Time has not taken any toll of her voice. In the big 6010 in the first act and the great duet in the third her voice thrilled the house. Their Majesties sent for her and received her in the Royal box. The queue began at six o'clock in the morning.— (-A. and N.Z. Cable.)
