AUSTRALIAN COTTON FIELDS.

FINE QTTAIJTY GROWN. LONDON', June 3. At the annual meeting of the British Cotton Growing Association at Manchester, Sir Frank Forbes Adam said that he had been shown cotton grown in Queensland, New South Wales, and West Australia in the staple, quite equal to American, and in some cases Egyptian cotton. He had formed the opinion that the growth of cotton in the Commonwealth would more rapidly increase than anvwliere. Reports from other centres showed that though there had been a slight set-back in certain quarters cotton trrowing had been firmly established m the British Empire. Lancashire might look to the Empire for an increasing proportion of her supply. —(A. and N.Z.)
