TOWX HALL OEGAX RECITAL. Cesar Auguste France's "Finale in B flat" opus 21, was the leading- solo submitted by the city organist at the recital on tlie grand organ last Saturday evening. This famous movement from the author's six pieces Tor the organ received a telling delivery. The brilliant pedal opening or 29 bars was given a distinctive performance, whilst the subsequent manual pasSages, consisting- mostly or triplets and unisons, were set out with clearness of detail, and the rich harmonies or the full chords modulating- Into the second subject were executed with a registering admirably exhibiting the colossal progressions. The second part was played in a welt contrasted style, and the tubas ami 32nds on the pedal told well during- tue unfurling of the forceful and majestic music or the Hnale. Lemare's "Pastorale in E" and Wolstonholme's "Rondino" were made the means to display the solo stops and soft registers or the glorious instrument, whilst effective readings were secured of three movements rrom Handel's "Water Music, "Carmen" selections, and Sullivan's March from "Henry VIII." Si«--nor Costantini was warmly received, and after his solos enthusiastically encored. His performance of Apollinis Aria "Si! Guerrierl!" rrom the melodrama "L'Ebres," was a fine example of sustained .singing, command of voice, and expression, and the Verdi "nomanza," from "Ernani," was admirably rendered. Mr. Leo Whittaker was responsible for the pianoforte parts. AMUSEMENTS GUIDE. HIS MAJESTY'S —Sir Harry Laucter. OPERA HOUSE —Fullers' Vaudeville and Revue. PICTURE THEATRES.
