REMUERA TRAMS.

(To th? Editor.) Sir, —Although the tramway timetables on the Remuera route have been altered, no attempt has been made to run trams via Khyber Pass and Symonas Street. The Victoria Avenue cars which used to run about every half-hour (via Symonds Street) have been cut out, and under the present system one wanting to go to Symonds Street or Town Hall, Is obliged to change cars at Newmarket or travel to the foot of Queen Street. This means extra cost, and' loss of time, of which 1 and many others have neither to spare.—l am, etc., DEEDS, NOT WORDS. (To the Editor.) «Sir, —The new running suits mc splendidly. I get into town five minutes sooner now than any trip I ever made the old way, and am assured of a comfortable ride both ways. I had always a most miserable ride home the other way, especially if I came at the rush time or after any evening entertainment. Now there is a Remuera car every tew minutes down Queen Street, against one chance every thirty-four . minutes, and we can go shopping to the top of Victoria Avenue for twopence against fourpence the old way.—l am, etc., GEORGE i. THOMSON. (To the Editor.) Sir/ —The new Remuera-Mount Albert route may he all right for those who understand it, but the sign "Remuera" on city bound cars is very confusing to strangers. A visitor, observing that sign, would naturally refrain from entering the car under the mistaken impression that it was not bound for the city. Why not make the sign "Remuera via City?"—l am, etc., PASSENGER. (To the Editor.) Sir, —There is no doubt that the Victoria Avenue service is being played with and becoming the laugh of the district. The residents are not being given an efficient service and the fare is most unjust to other terminal section users. The children are paying the same as lajdiults—and resSdJcnts cannot get to Upper Queen Street, Karangahape Road or Symonds Street without considerable inconvenience or within a reasonable time. I ask you is such a service an improvement? Thoße v* ■—» other : wise are surprised at such a retrograde" step being for one moment allowed dis : eusßion by the Tramway Committee or any other sensible body of men, ito say nothing of the experienced official who propounded the scheme. In conclusion I may say I am voicing the views of the bulk of disgusted ratepayers and the opinion practically of every driver and conductor on the route who wonder how long the ridiculous is to continue. —I ajui, etc., E. RITSON. (To tbe Editor.) Sir, —Under the new Victoria Avenue system, we adults are granted a concession of one-penny on the fare over the first section. That is all very'well, ■but the fact that we parents are being called on to pay increased fares for children travelling over all sections except the fir i st , (and on that they pay the same as lv„ t 1 ?IS?S to-have been quite overlUvenueIUvenue &$ ?*' - ShoUld ™ Vict °™ 1 ' " ---a. 8.-THxy.
