BOWLING.
WHOLESALE AND RETAIL. LAST MATCH OF THE SEASON. The Mount Albert Bowling Club's charmingly situated green was In very fine condition yesteraty afternoon, when the wholesale and retail grocers met for the last match of the season. The green superintendent. Mr. T. H. Stevens, had promised at the previous match that when the grocers visited Mount Albert he would guarantee perfect weather and a perfect green, and In both respects the afternoon came fully up to expectations. This occasioned very complimentary remarks during the afternoon tea adjournment, the caretaker being Included In the congratulations to the Mount Albert Club. Mr. A. W. Page again referred to the silver cup which was being made for Messrs. S. KirkPatrick and Co. for presentation to the side obtaining the greatest number of wins next season, and explained that the donor* were also presenting silver buttons, to be held by the actual players belonging to the winning side. He wits very pleased to note the Increased interest that was now taken In the series of matches played each season, and expressed the hope that at the opening match next summer they would be visited by a larger Dumber of the principals of the wholesale firms, to which remark a voice responded with the pertinent query, "Will they reduce the prices?" Mr. Page expressed the opinion that the matches were now of sufficient Importance to warrant the appointment of a permanent committee of management, especially in view of the necessity for making complete arrangements for the competitions for what will probably be known as the -Kiwi Cup." The suggestion was promptly acted upon, and he himself was unanimously elected president, with the following committee:— wholesale, iMeesrs. D. Grattan, B. A. Kaycs and A. tloylance: Retail. Messrs. J. Henderson. J. Coupland and T. B. Price (secretary). On behalf of the visitors to Mount Albert, Mr. Kayes congratulated the cluo on their beautiful green, and proposed a vote of thanks for the uso of It, also to Mr. Page for arranging the aftenoon, and to Mrs. Page for providing afternoon tea. The green was wonderfully keen, considering the heavy rain that has recently fallen, and the play was of a very high order, the interest being well maintained tantll the end, particularly on account of the closeness of the score. Finally the retail won by . one point, the aggregate being 108 to 107. with individual scores as follows, retail names first:— J. Preston, C Jackson, T. H. Stevens. .T. Coupland 24, v. W.
