TRANSFER OF THE PROPERTY. TO THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. Tlie Board of Management of Leslie Orphanage Remuera, decided some years ago that it would lie well to transfer the property to the Presbyterian Church of Now Zealand, but technical difficulties provented that being done until special legislation was passed. Everything has now been satisfactorily arranged and the formal transfer of the property takes place to-morrow at a function arranged fur that The Rev. J. \V. Cornrie, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church o{ Ke\v Zealand, Will receive the title deeds 11> the endowments of the orphanage on helmlf of the Church. The policy and management of the orphanage will not bo changed, so that existing arrangements will not bo disturbed by the transfer of the property to the General Assembly. The orphanage property with various investments and assets is valued at and is absolutely unencumbered. To Hip generosity of Mr. James Leslie, ii member of St.' Luke's Presbyterian church. Remuera, who died in ISSR. is due the fact that this useful institution wus established :« years ago. Ilia will provided that his whole estate should he devilled to the establishment, and maintenance of a home for orphans nn'l destitute children, irrespective of ram or creed. It was provided in the will that training should he in accordance with the doctrine and discipline of the Presbyterian Church. The estate was valued at C34K5. These funds wore carefully husbanded and other bequests were "received at various times. In liHKt a line urea of 1- acres was purchased for £1320. Building started in Win and the opening was performed by the then Mayor. Mr. C. .1. Parr. The <>ri"ii.a.l promises cost £5000. ami later were extended at a cost of £0000. The !ate Key. G. B. Monro was for many years chairman of the board of management.
