CAUGHT IN THE ACT.
A CHRISTCHURCH BURGLAR. ESCAPES AFTER STRUGGLE. ;By Tpipsrai.h.— JSprr'iiil to "Stir.") ' r CHRISTCHURCH, this day. A burglar, interrupted at work, was seized outside a shop in Kilmorc Street at 4.30 this morning by a resident of St. Albans, but escaped after a tussle and chase. When passing a confectionery shop, Mr. IC. Clark heard a noise iii the shop ami threw the light of a bicycle lamp on the door. He was assured by a man inside that everything was all right, but .Mr. Clark 'was suspicious and wailed. Soon the man inside came silently through the fanlight. On being accosted the burjrlar tried to escape, but was seized. Af'.er a short struggle the burglar broke loose ami ran down Kilmore Street, followed by his attacker, who was not able to catch him, however. The police were informed, and are making inquiries.
