GAME SHOOTING SEASON.

In the latest Gazette the open season for imported and native game in the Auckland acclimatisation district is declared to be from May Ist to July 31st (both days inclusive), for killing cock pheasants, Californian quail, and Australian quail; from May Ist to June 30th for the killing of grey duck, black teal, and black swan; and from January Ist to March 31st, 19-4, for the killing of godwits (curlew).

The number of game' that may tie killed by any one sportsman in any one day shall not exceed 12 cock pheasants, and 25 head in all of grey duck, black teal, and black swan. No live birds are to be used as decoys, and not more than 25 artificial decoys are to be used at any one time on any particular area ot water within an area of less than 100 square yards. No automatic or autoloading gun is to be used unless it shall first have been converted into a gun capable of firing tvt'o cartridges only. Pump guns and swivel guns are forbidden, and the bore of any gun used must not exceed 12 bore, or be more than 10'Jb in weight.
