ONETANGI PIER.
PLANS OFFICIALLY APPROVED.
Onetangi, which lies outside Waiheke Island, should develop rapidly when the new pier is completed. Approval of the plans and specifications has been announced by the Marine Department, and the initial steps towards constructing the pier have already been taken. Steel girders and all the other necessary material have been secured, and the erection will he carried on under efficient supervision. It is expected that the new pier will be completed this , an( „ ,s T. the oce *- n ■»• o f Waiheke Island, and is only a couple of hours run from Auckland. The fine beach stretches for more than a mile. At present the steamers and launches go to Ostend and the rest of the trip is by motor bus, but when the pier is in use a few months hence the route will be direct and somewhat shorter.
