The Mayor (.Mr. S. Donaldsoni presided over the meeting of the Newmarket Borough Council lust night, when there were also present : Messrs. I. S. Boone. 11. J. Conner \V. S. Sawbridge. X. Kellawav. A Kent U Smerdon. I. J. O'Meara, T. 11. Watts, "and" A. Seecombe. It was reported by tlie Legal and Finance Committee that the receipts for the year ended March IU totalled £.'l'_',4!«. The' district found account receipts being £16 50(1 and the loans account receipts £I.",'«;•{' The expenditure for the year was £306."' which left a credit balance of £1821 ' ' "' A complaint from the Hospital' Board regarding the bad state of the footpaths in lark Itoail was referred to the Streets Committee, with power to act it was decided that in future all applications for building permits over £2o must eume before Ihe council.
