What would Sir William Herries wish? The answer may be found in the following letter, which Sir Joseph Ward received from a college chum of the late, member: "Dear Sir Jo«eph.— As a man who has followed your career from the ntart and who has had the privilege of knowing yon slightly personally, T am writing to say how delighted I am to find you standing again to help our little country out of her financial difficulties. Personally T knew the late fir William Herries. We were at Cambridge University together, and a finer specimen of a man T have yet to meet, and I am quite sure. Sir Joseph, that he would like to see a man of your ability and character standing in his shoes" at Tauvanpn. Bo may I offer you my sincerest wishes for your success.
