TO HANDLE MARKS,
I A very curious state of affairs has j been brought about in German banks by 1 the currency inflation. With the vastly increased amount of paper money in circulation, the extra work to be done is tremendous and the supply of competent bank employees has given out badly. Work is everywhere falling farther and farther behind, as overtime cannot nearly cope with the situation. This "famine"' Is especially felt in Frankfort-on-Main. fJermany's great banking centre, and in one issue of the "Frankfurter Zeitung" the other day no fewer than seventeen important banks had advertisements calling urgently for all kinds of employees from junior clerks to experienced cashiers —and not "small" advertisements either, but big ''displayed' , announcements.
