JAPAN'S UNEMPLOYED.
THIRTY THOUSAND DISMISSED. DEMAND FOR A BONUS. NEW YORK, March 22. The Tokyo correspondent of t lip '•Chicago Tribune" reports that the city arsenals have been put under heavy guards in consequence of intense agitation following the dismissal of 30,000 workmen from these arsenals in connection with the Government's armaments reduction policy. The workers met and drafted a demand for a bonus 'o discharged men equal to two years' pay, aud better treatment for those retained. At the same time, tliey decided to adopt a "go-slow" policy. Gendarmes from Yokohama aud oth«r nearby cities have been drafted into Tokyo to co-operate with tiie police in guarding public properties. — lA. and N.Z. Cable.)
