ORAKEI MAORI CHURCH.
OPENED YESTERDAY.
The ceremony of opening- tlie new Maori church look place yesterday afternoon at Orakei and was well attended, a number of European residents lieinjr amongst those present. Mr. Olt'iu- J'aul performed the opening ceremony. He explained that Ratana whs not able to lie present. Mr. Paul rend numerous documents. J'ealinp with Ratana and polities, he claimed that the work was really of a Parliamentary nature, but it was also God's work. Mr. Paul stated that in the four years of bis work. 38,000 people had entered their names in Katana's Book of Life. He contended the reason that Ratana lost at the. recent election for a Maori member of Parliament was liu.pausp his people forgot what he had done. Mr. Paul then welcomed all these p r-o:it and unveiled the tombstones of the Maoris.
