OfENING LONDON PRICES. PAR TO 5 PER CENT LOWER. LONDON, March 7. The wool sales opened to-day. Prices so far range from par to 5 per cent below February closing rates. The catalogue comprises 12,082 bales, of which 5184 are Australian, and 6379 New Zealand, A capital selection of crossbreds was offered to-day, but the selection of Merinos was email and poor, chiefly speculators' wools, on which were high reserves, and many wore withdrawn. There wne a large attendance, and good competition. The tone was much better than had been anticipated. Fine sorts generally well maintained the London February closing level. Mediums were at par to 5 per cent lower, shabby 5 per cent lower, scoureils and slipes 5 per cent lower, and Merinos at par to 5 per cent lower.
