OBITUARY.
MR. ALEXANDER WIGHT THOMSON.
An old resident of Auckland, in the person of Mr. Alexander Wight Thomson died at his residence, 3, Birdwood Crescent, Parnell, at an early hour this morning at the age of 80. Mr. Thomson was born at Stirling, Scotland. He arrived in Australia about 1864 under engagement to the Union Bank of Australia Ltd. He was manager at Rockhampton! Queensland, branch for several years, and manager at Brisbane for 16 years/also acting as inspector f or Northern Queensland, during which time he opened and supervised several new branches. On leaving Queensland he was manager at Auckland for about ten years, and then retired. Mr. Thomson took an active interest in bowling, having heen presln r* * ear V Unnin S of the Auckland Bowling Club and also a member of the Carlton Bowling Club. He also took a keen interest in the Parnell Shakespeare Club, of which he was a of eß t£" Vsf "", f ° r years a »«"b«r of the Northern Club, Princes Street.
