WOMEN'S TEMPERANCE UNION.
LEGACY OF £557 RECEIVED.
The opening meeting of the Auckland district Women's Christian Temperance Union was held in tbe headquarters on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Cook presided over a good gathering of me-mbers. Mrs. Anstice, of Mt. Albert, conducted the devotional meeting, and gave a vcrv inspiring message for the new year. A very large amount oi" correspondence was •lelit with, and a cheque of £807 _/(i was received from Mr.-. Daldy's legacy to the Union. The retiring treasurer's statement was received, and a hearty vote of thankpassed to Mrs. Firrett for the good work and service to the Union. Mrs. Dowling \va- appointed to the position of treasurer. Interesting report- were received from tlic superintendents of ! lie various departments of work taken up by the Union during the past year.
