ARMENIAN REFUGEES.

BRITISH VOTE OF £45,000. LONDON, February 27. Mr. Ronald McNeill, Under-Secretary of Foreign Affairs, detailed in the House of Commons the circumstances attending the evacuation of refugees from Smyrna and Thrace. These services rendered in the cause of humanity cost Britain £45,000.

Colonel J. Wedgcwood (Labour) moved a nominal reduction of the Smyrna vote to show the Labour party's disapproval of Lord Curzon's policy in the Near East, which, it alleged, hail involved this expenditure.— (A. and N.Z.)
