Evidence jhowed that Mrs. M. Stevenson., of Cambridge, had been sent a registered letter from Auckland containing £2.2. She was notified that it had been sent, but did not receive it, and it transpired that the letter had been addressed to W.I instead of M. I. Stevenson. It was shown that accused was staying with hi« parents at Karapiro, near Cambridge, when he received a telephone message from the post offlce that there was a letter awaiting him.
