The new production at the London Lyric is to be known as "Lilac Time " and not a little interest hangs on the fact that Mr. George H. Clutsam has made the adaptation of Heinrich Berte's Schubert opera, and the needful "appropriations" from Schubert. An Australian by birth, and a self-taught musician, Mr. Clutsam settled in London in 1889. His operas, "A Summer Night" and "Konig Harlekin," were favourably received, the former being staged at His Majesty's and Covent Garden during the Beecham season. Of the 150 ballads to Mr. ClutsanV. credit perhaps the most popular was "I Know Two Bright Kjrm."
