MORRINSVILLE NEWS.

The local school committee Is concentrating much thought as to the advisability, or otherwise, of continuing the proposal to establish a district high school here, now the minister's sanction has been obtained at such a late hour, after a first refusal. The committee has discussed the matter, and though the required number of pupils were available when the idea was first mooted, the recent refusal had the effect of many children being sent to Hamilton and Auckland. Thirty children travel each day to the Hamilton high school from Morrinsville. It was pointed out that if the school were established, and the required numbers were not obtainable, the school may be prejudiced for many years to come. It was decided to put the onus of accepting or temporarily rejecting the offer on to the parents, and a public meeting will be held to make a decision.

At a successful garden party held by the Morrinsville Bowling Club the following competitions were decided :—Driving W. G. Abercrombie; drawing, R. N. Morpeth; putting (for golfers), C. H. McKay; guessing, D. Coghlll and C. McDavitt.

The Morrlnsvllle Swimming Club has decided to bold a carnival on March 17, and the following officials have been elected: Starters, Messrs. A. Needham and B Seville ; call steward, Mr. G. Oates; judges Messrs. H. Sands, F. A. Hanan, g' Crickett; timekeepers, Messrs. T. Ryan and" R. Morton; protest committee, Messrs. B. Chapman, J. Ensor, and M. Orlgsby ; haxtdlcappers, H. Mallett and B. Seville; ladies' committee, Mesdames Seville, Fraser Misses Verner and Milllken; programme committee. Messrs. C. Davidson G Crickett, F. A. Hanan, Price, and T. Ryan" The output at the Waharoa butter factory is decreasing only slightly, keeping up well with the advancement of the season, anfl is evidence that the average rate for the season is more than being maintained. Last week the output was 781 tons, while the week before it was 79 tons, a decrease of only half a ton.

Great improvements are to be affected at Wnharoa, the home of the world's largest butter factory. A Btart has been made with the construction of new railway station buildings. One of the last advices received from the late Sir William Henries was to the effect that the Public Works Department had given authority to Invite tenders for the erection of a new post office.
