POLITICAL LABOUR PARTY.

CANDIDATE FOR EACH ELECTORATE. PREPARING FOR POSSIBILITIES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. Mr. Holland, M.P., addressed a very largely-attended public meeting lait night on the short session of 1923, speaking on the lines of his recent Dunedin speech. He said in future there must be a Labour candidate put up for each constituency. "While it is not probable that there will be another election next year," said Mr. Holland, "it is possible, and our business is to get ready for it. Unfortunately the Labour party has usually left organisation for elections too late, but I feel sure Labour will have a big say in the next Christchurch Xorth election."

Referring to newspaper criticism of the Labour party, he urged workers to get together and set up Labour papers throughout New Zealand. Mr. Holland asserted that means were now being devised of altering the electoral system, with a view to preventing the Labour party coming into power; therefore he warned hie hearers to be careful that no system was foisted on the Dominion by which people would be politically swindled. All that the Labour party had to fear was from those of the working class who did not think for themselves, but let the daily press do their thinking for them. It was inevitable that Labour would eventually win. By its supporters getting together they could hasten the day.

Replying to a question, Mr. HoU-irA said while he was personally in favour of the Labour party contesting the Tauranga seat that was a matter that was left to the party in the district to decide. Mr. Holland was accorded a vote of thanks and the following motion carried: '"This meeting heartily supports the recent action of the Parliamentary Labour party in the position it took up in the late short session.
