The trial races for tlip Prince Memorial Fours were decided over the ItiHlde course extending from the eastern tide deflector to the clubhouse. In the first beat for the fours crews stroked by Hammond. W. Lnmb tin] R. Surman were the contestants. From v mutual start Hammond drew out Into the lead, followed by Lamb and Surman pulling together. At the bend in tbe course Larni. and Surman fouled, allowing Hammond to Secure nn easy victory by about six lengths. Crews stroked by Page. Aimer and Linton took part in the second heat. The start was an even one, and tbe crews continued to hold together until making the bend, when Linton got v slight advantage. Page, however, put in n strong challenge, and a strenuous (lnish saw th» .alter crosa the winning line about n canvas to tingood. Aimer was third, only another three feet behind Linton. The third heat was contested by A. C. Lamb. Emery and Wright. The Hist named crew had the misfortune to break two uf its oars at an early stage ..f the r-jc. leaving Emery and Wright in the running.
