PLUNKET SHIELD MATCH.
WELLINGTON IN THE LEAD. A STEADY BATTING DISPLAY. (By Telejrapn.—iiivn Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. The Phinket Shield match was continued yesterday in line weather. Thn attendance was" small, but those who stayed away did not miss much, for the batting was never exhilarating. Wellinpton resumed their innings, and. with thn exception of Brice. played a •'rock' , game. Kortlang played a sound inning* for his 53, but his display lacked style compared with Hiddleston. The latter gave a stylish and finished exhibition. McGirr and Brice were the. only one* throughout the day who infused any life into the batting. Canterbury's fielding was mixed, but the bowling was steady until the end of the day, when the solid batling wore it down. Scores:— >TS!!Sri WELLINGTON.—First Innings.*' .
