The lower retail price is causing a greatly increased demand, and stocks have been cleared, but four steamers are just commencing to discharge. It is expected that the demand is likely to he maintained for the present, although the retail price will he raised in 1/lt) per lbnext week, as the public is highly satisfied with the excellent quality of the colonial butter offering. New Zealand! choicest is quoted at 184/ to I*o/. as against, ISO/ to 184/ last week, and-, exceptionally good at ISS/. Australian is quoted at 176/ to ITS/. Cheese has a steady demand.
