During December the amount of Customs duty collected at Auckland amounted to £161,083 6/- as against £102,877 18/1 for the same month last year. Beer duty amounted to £13.059 j 1/10, the total for the corresponding ' period in 1921 being £12,577 11/1. Gold entered for duty totalled 43130z 13dwt, of a total value of £18,053 5/2, as against 37080z lOdwt, valued at £15, 388 in December last year. Silver j weighing 3540z, valued at £47 5/7, was entered for duty this month, whereas | the quantity for the same period in j 1921 was 30,5550z, valued at £3939. j The following comparative statement j shows that the dues received during 1922 j are leas than those of 1921 by £8854: —
