HOUSE RECREATION PARK.
OPENED BY PREMIER. A recreation park of six acres presented to the resident* of Mangare by Mr. S. \V. House, an ex-member of the Manukau County Council, was officially opened this afternoon by the Prime Minister ( Rt. Hon. W. F. Massey), who also declared the npiv courts of the Mangere Tennis Club to be open for play. Originally a portion of the Ascot Estate, tbe land was purchaaed by Mr. House and presented to the people about two month* ago, being vested in a board of trustees. It is situated in the centre of the district, with a frontage to Kirkbride Road, ami the gift is deeply appreciated by the residents since, when fully developed, it will provide additional facilities for outdoor sports. Two acres have laid down as tennis courts, in metal waste. For a number of year* the M.insrero Tennis Club has utilised the courts at tho school, but the gift of the park lias made it possiWe for the club to own courts for the exclusive use of niemhfr* ard the public A pavilion costing /300 .has been erected, and water supply hn? provided by means of a bore. Tn all there are five tennis courts, and ther<> is adequate room for extension. After toe Premier had declared the emiTti open, tea was served bv~ the ladies, nnd jram«s were plnyed.
