HEW TSAR CELEBRATIONS. PLKNTTY OF AMUSEMENTS?. After a temporary lull—not that a. great deal of work has been done in the interim —Auckland and the stranger within it* gates will start holidayingagain this week-end, and nest Tuesday i will 'bring the festivities to a conclusion. To-night the ahope will remain open ■until tea pJ»., and to-morrow- wall close «t midday as usual, so that the stafts will have two and a half to three and a half dear days' spell. The Trotting Clufo's meeting at Epsom will no doubt attract « large crowd of people to-mor-row, and for Monday and Tuesday tt.ere are ilte concluding day* «f the Auckland Racing Club's meeting at Ellerslw. Harbour «;xcureio«« and special trips to the yariouß resorts in the Gulf are advertised, and it louks as though the excursionists were going to be favoured with real New Year weather—and they certainly deserve it as some compensation ■for the deluge that spoiled the Christmas outing*. Special services are ibeing , run by the Railway Department, and pe-ople will it very convenient to get into the country. The city tramways will run an ordinary service to-morrow, the last ears leaving the city at 11.90 p.m. On Sunday the ueua-1 Sunday service will be run—'last cars from the city at 10.30 p.m. 'Special services will be run on ali routes on X«w Year* Day. and the last car from the city will leave at 11.30. In addition to the usual attraction* this week-end, there will be the beacli vßinivnle at Cheltenham and Takapuna. seaplane flights from the , Kohimararaa J-Mymg -.School, annual sports of the Caledonian Society on the Domain on New Year's Day, and the lAtauku sports at Patum*hoe, aleo on New Year's Day.
