OBITUARY.
MR. YV. R. WHEWELL. The death has occurred at Tamahere of Mr. William Russell Whewell, at the age of 60 years. Mr. Whewell was well known throughout the Waikato and various parts of the Auckland Province. He was born at Tonga, and came to New Zealand with hie parents 57 years ago. He resided «t Auckland, Remuera, Ohaupo and Waiuku, and in Australia at varying periods. Mr. Whewell finally settled at Tamahere, where he had resided for nearly 30 years. He was well known as a successful breeder of Friesian cattle, and his stock gained numerous successes at showns in the Waikato and various other parts of the province. In eport, also, he wa6 a prominent figure, having been one of the original membere of the Pakuranga Hunt Club, and, during his residence here, was associated with the Waikato Hunt for some years. Hβ served on the Tamahere Road Board. Mr. Whewell leaves a widow and a family of two sons, Messrs. G. and H. Whewell, of TamaTiere, and one daughter, Mise B. Whewell.
