Mr. F. Thompson, general manager of the Cliristohlirch tramways nas offered a suggestion to the Anniversary Day Committee for next year's e<;lel>rjitioh, state* tb<? "Lyttelton Times. "* suggests that a pageant should be arranged, showing changes in different, institutions and industries since the First Four Mips arrived in 1850, by means of a series of displays, including implements and vehicles, "if the suggestion is taken up, he will recommend the Tramway Board to co-operate in a display showing, step by step, changes in vehicles and traction, from the pledge and the bullockdray to the stage-roach, the hansom eal>, carts, traps, different kinds of bicycles, old-time tranicars, and the present electric cars.
