BUSH FIRES IN S.A.
HOMESTEADS DESTROYED. <Reeelved 9.30 a.m.) ADELAIDE, this day. Destructive bush fires occurred in the Canowie district over a wide area, crops and numerous homesteads were destroyed and thousands of stacks burned. In some cases women and children suffered severely before being rescued from the burning farms. —(A. and N.Z. Cable.) 81-tTE MOtTNTAIN FIRES. (Received 2 p.m.) SYDNEY, this day. Bush fires continue in the Mountains, and several cottages at Wentworth Falls were destroyed. The whole mountain side appeared to be ablaze from a distance.—(A. and N.Z. Cable.)
