ELECTRICITY FOR KAMO.
(By Tilegraph.—-Own Cnrresnorid'nt.*! WHANGAREI, this day. Extension of the electric system reticulation providing light and power from Whangarei to Kamo has now been made possible by Kamo ratepayers carrying loan proposals totalling £2700 for this specific purpose. The inauguration ceremony at Kamo yesterday evening was attended by over 100 citizens, including representatives from Whangarei Borough Council, Hiikurangi Town Board and Kamo Town Board. After an address by Mr. F. Wakelin, chairman of the Kamo Town Board, who outlined the successful work that had been carried out, Mrs. Wakelin turned on the electric current, Kamo being illuminated. The system provides for street lighting, and the supply of electricity to privnte consumers for heating and lighting. Subsequently presentations were made in the Kamo Hall to Mrs. Wakelin, wife of the chairman, and Mr. Dawson*", electrical engineer to the board, in honour of the occasion.
