SAVAGE CLUB SEASON.

One of the most enjoyable and eucce»sful ladies'" nights yet held by the Auckland Savage - Club was that in which members and jruests to the number of about 700 celebrated the closing of the IW2 season at a ''korero wahine" lin the S«.-ots' Hall on Saturday evening. The guests were made thoroughly at home in characteristic lavage Club style, and the entertainment provided was in all respects right up to the very high standard set in former years. .After the rangatira hud welcomed the gueste, a bright, snappy and appropriate playlet, entitled -The First Savage Club," in which Dr. P. H. Buck, as author, had interleaved Maori song, dance and tradition with current local allusion ami quips, was staged, and the ancient and modern Savage* held the closest attention of everybody for over an hour ot engrossing music, comedy, dance anrl tableau. A party of boys from St. Stephen's College contributed thehaka* and Maori episode?, and the songs were Ming hy Messrs. 1). \V. Russell, TV. Manning and A. 11. Ripley to words written by Miss D. W. Russell. After supper a short musical programme '.vas contributed by the club's orchestni milder Mr. Colin Muston), the Lyric Four. Mr. F. If.
