GENERAL MANAGER'S TOUR. i VISIT TO PAPAROA. j (By Teiegraph.-Own Correspondent.) ,' PAPAROA, this day. ! Mr. R. MrVilly (General Manager of Railways), accompanied by Messrs. MarLeiin, Gillon. Harris, Buxton and j Kosh ( officers of the Department I, j arrived to-day by special train. A i meeting-of settlers was held at the! council chambers. Messrs. M. N. Skel- ! ton and Thoa. Wilson voiced the urgent ' desire of the residents for a fully-staffed j station at. Paparoa. The valley received a heavy volume of traffic, which the railway would tap at Paparoa, including the western districts and the fertile i Wairoa baein, with large areas of rich ! , reclaimed swamp at Ruawai and Raupo. 1 Mr. MeVilly promised that facilities j adequate to traffic would be provided, I j both at Maungaturoto and Paparoa. He ! : made no promise as to the allotment of ! a chief station, but said that the Department must take experience from the mistakes of the past and plan for j ; future development expansion. j He left for Ruawai and Dargaville by : motor this afternoon.
