PRONOUNCED INSANE.

OTAHUHU CASE RE-OPENED. . KE-COMSinTED TO 3IBNTAL j '* j, HOSPITAL, The woman over-whose incarceration in the Avondale Mental Hospital the Rev. H. Mason so actively interested himself Eome months ago, and concerning whom there was so much discussion in Parliament and the Press, was to-day recommitted as insane by a magistrate. g

She had lately 'been staying "with a resident at Otahuhu, who 'became terrified as the result of her lodger's delusions and -tlvreat3 of suicide. Some of the delusions under which the woman suffered, according to a report supplied iby Constable B_ H. Hob 3, of Otahuhu,

were that men -were trying to break into the house to seduce her; that someone had «n electric bell which was set working, it had a wire attached to it, which was beating against her head and made her talk and fiitfg at night; that men were hiding under the bad and in the cupboards, and under the house. She frequently went to the grave in which her former husband was 'buried, and returned saying she had spoken to him and that he had advised her to "stick" to her Teligion, which she was in the frequent ha/bit -of changing. The lodginghouee keeper stated that she allowed the woman to stay with her pending her admission to the Costlcy Home, for which arrangements were being made. Every night the woman was continually saying men were in the house after her and looking under the •bed and in the cupboards, and elsewhere 1 for these men. She was also continually pulling the Winds up and down at night and complaining about an electric ■wire in her head and pricking her. Yesterday morning she said tlrat if she was not taken away to a home she would do away with ]ierself_ in the Tamaki river. AVitnoss complained that she was not able to sleep at niglit owing to the woman's actions and was afraid she was ogoing to commit suicide. Therefore she

could not allow the woman to stay in her house any longer. "This ia tlie woman a'hout whom thp Rev. H. Mason wrote to the papers,"' said Constable Mop?, in his report. "There is no doubt in my mind about the woman's insanity—she certainly is insane and a menace to the neighbourhood. Thp woman's second husband left her several years ago and hip when- ,- aWits are unknown. I have previously reported on this woman." Medical mf-n certified to the insanity of the woman.
