MODERATE LEAGUE.
DEPUTATION TO FREMXEE, THE STATE CONTROL ISSUE. (By Telejrraph.—Press Association.) WKI.LIXGTOX, this day. A Moderate league deputation waited on the Prime Minister and submitted the decision* uf yesterday's conference. Mr. M«sey said that if he believed there ■was a possibility of Slate Control being carried he would repeal the compensation clause of the present licensing law, but he did not believe there was such a possibility. The disturbance of taxation hv prohibiiion would have to be considered. when the time arrived; the loss of revenue -would have to be pruvided for, Parliament must say how.
lt» would be wrong for him to say now •what roposals he. would make if prohibition were not carried. There would be a Licensing Bill next session to put the traffic on a better footing. The public was not satisfied with the existing arrangements, and the whole licensing laws would have to 'foe revised in. interests of the public.
