MEMORIAL UNVEILED.

AT ST. JOHN'S COLLEGE. ANNUAL FESTIVAL. The annual festival of the St. John's College Association took place at the college. West Tamaki, on Saturday. Holy Communion was celebrated in the chapel at 10.30 a.m.. the Bishop of Auckland being the celebrant, while the Rev. C. B. Seton preached the annual sermon..

During the service the Bishop unveiled the memorial tablet which has been placed in the chapel to the memory of those former students of the college who gave their lives in the war. In a short address the Bishop said that he valued the privilege of performing this act as a tribute to the memory of those men who carried out to the end the duty inculcated by their training received in the college. It was noteworthy that at the beginning of the war the warden and all the students had gone to serve their country, some to make the supreme sacrifice. The college for four years had remained closed, and work was resumed only in 1920. The tablet bears tne following names: E. ('. Cooke, N. Russell, E. Tavler, J. Rose, P. (.!. Clark, T. Morgan, N. Eagar, 0. Ruddock. A number of past and present students, together with some relatives of those commemorated on the memorial tablet, attended the service, which in its simplicity and reverence was an inspiration to all present. The members of the association were afterwards entertained to lunch by Canon P. T. Williams, warden of the college, and Mrs. Williams.
