The "Times" Dublin correspondent says that as a protest against the reduction of the working week from six to five days, the Dublin employees of the Great Southern-Western Railway have struck. • All traffic is suspended and the fetation? are guarded by national troops.

REBEL LEADER KILLED. 140 PRISONERS ESCAPE. LONDDX, October 17. A rebel commandant, notorious for his many daring exploits, was mortally wounded on refusing to surrender during a brisk engagement at Ballaghadcrreen, East Jlayo. National troops encircled the village and searched it. A quantity i>f looted goods was recovered.
One hundred and forty prisoners escaped from an internment camp at Xewbridge barrack?, near ( nrragh, through a disused sewage drain. Twentyseven wore recaptured.—(Renter.)
