PRESIDENT HARDING ON AMERICA'S DRY EVIL. On October 2nd in all New Zealand newspapers a cable apjieared as follows: "An investigation conducted by a committee composed of Messrs. Hughes, Mellon, and Hoover found that the United States is the greatest per capita consumer of drugs in the world. As a result of the investigation, President Harding has decided to open the way to hold a conference of nations to discuss this question." This committee, comprising three of America's foremost statesmen.
