Two set* of launch-landing steps that iieed to jut out from the breastwork in Quay Street west have now been carried round to the eastern §ide ot Queen's wharf 'by the Harbour BoaTd'e big 80-ton crane and eet down in their positions. The board's engineer OMr. W. H. Harrier) gave some interesting details of theee big' lifts in hie periodical report to the board thie aQfernoon. Each of these landings weighed 70 tons. The breakaway lift by the crane was something over 100 tone. The operation in each case wae completed in atwut tw 0 hows. The piles on which the landings stood have been drawn, and will be reused. The pull necessary to draw a pile wae about 55 tone. The engineer said he would like to pay a trrbute to the admirable way in which all the men worked on this difficult job.
