The term of the present City Council expire* next April, when there will be an vlcction of the whole council. To-day then , is a vacancy, and three jrent'e-
men's names have been put forward as i amlidiitfs. It is unfortunate that for a period of service of one councillor (or about tlirec months an election should l)c necessary.
